Introduction
The aim of the RC Achievement Scheme is to encourage RC model flyers to improve their standard of flying and safety, and to raise awareness of the legal controls relating to model aircraft flying and to prove that standard and awareness to an Examiner. The scheme is run by the BMFA as a National Scheme and it is open to all RC model flyers, including non-members.
The North West Area Achievement Scheme Co-ordinator is Kevin Watson:

Resources
The BMFA Achievement Scheme website is located here and readers are encouraged to use this site as the one location for up to date information on the Achievement Scheme. The site also has links to all the resources required for an Achievement Scheme candidate.
In 2016, the BMFA introduced a series of Mandatory Questions for A and B test candidates. The mandatory questions deal with the legal aspects of flying model aircraft and should be fully understood by any pilot whether they intend to take an Achievement Scheme test or not. The mandatory questions and answers are available here.
Area Chief Examiners
The BMFA NW Area has appointed 12 Area Chief Examiners.
The role of the Area Chief Examiner (ACE) is described in the BMFA-AS Handbook available from the AS download section of the BMFA Website.

ACE Responsibilities
The principle responsibilities of the ACE can be summarised as follows:
1. Promote the Achievement Scheme within the Area
2. Provide AS examiner cover for a candidate who may not be able to find an alternative examiner. They are permitted to conduct an ‘A’ or ‘B’ test without a second examiner present (normally required for a ‘B’ test).
3. They will provide examination services for any Area Club member wishing to become a Club Achievement Scheme Examiner.
If you need an ACE, please contact via Kevin Watson – contact details above.
